SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University’s 24th Annual Interfaith Prayer Breakfast will be held Thursday, February 20, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., in The Heidi and Walter Stepan Grand Hall of the George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology.

Patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast, held annually in Washington D.C. and replicated across the country, Bryant’s Prayer Breakfast offers an inspirational hour of music, prayer, and a spiritual message that welcomes people of all beliefs and perspectives. This year’s speaker is Reverend Kevin White, Protestant Chaplain at Bryant University and Pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, RI. His remarks will focus on the theme of “Hope and Change in a Time of Transition.”

Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Reverend White, known by his congregations as Pastor Kevin, received his Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2013. He also has Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before attending the seminary, Pastor Kevin served as Director of Youth Ministries at Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, VA.

“The Interfaith Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to share in a common spiritual experience."

“The Interfaith Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to share in a common spiritual experience,” says Kati Machtley, Chair of the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast and Director of the Bryant University Women’s Summit®.  “We have gathered for the past 23 years to peacefully learn about and reflect upon the various faiths that are practiced in our local communities. Our Bryant University students participate by reading excerpts from each of their religious writings. These include the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament from the Bible, the Koran, and the Bhagavad-Gita which are representative of their different faiths. We hope that by being exposed to various religious beliefs that those who attend will become more accepting and welcoming to those from different religions around the world. In addition, the Bryant Singers provide inspiring music for all to enjoy.”

A contribution of $8 will help defray the cost of the breakfast. Individuals may reserve an entire table or individual seats. To make a reservation and arrange payment, contact Aurelie at (401) 232-6045 or amaciej@bryant.edu by Tuesday, February 18. Bryant students are invited to attend at no charge and should reserve their seats by Tuesday, February 18.

Please note: In the event of inclement weather, the snow date will be Monday, February 24, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Information about schedule changes due to inclement weather will be available at https://www.bryant.edu/.
