Assistant Professor of Legal Studies Katayoun Alidadi, Ph.D., was the first featured lecturer at Global Scholar Stories, a new series that provides a forum for professors and other scholars to share their diverse backgrounds and research with the Bryant community.

Alidadi, born in Iran, moved to Belgium during her childhood. She spoke about how her experiences and identity continue to inform her research on human rights and religion, and her pursuit of a career she is passionate about. She also shared insights about the transition from attending university in Europe then pursuing her law degree at Harvard, and encouraged students to take advantage of international opportunities such as the Sophomore International Experience.

“I could not envision a better way of starting this program,” said Tomas Ballester ’20, a Politics and Law major who was in the audience for the inaugural presentation. Professor Alidadi “captured everyone's attention and delivered an engrossing and moving narrative of her impressive transcontinental and indeed global journey."

Alidadi joined Bryant University in 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Legal Studies specializing in comparative law, human rights and the intersections of law and religion. Prior to entering academia, she was a practicing attorney, first with an international law firm in Brussels and later practicing public interest and small business law in Los Angeles with Public Counsel Law Center.

The series is sponsored by the Division of International Affairs.
