Business analytics and modeling, blockchain analytics, marketing analytics, and business intelligence are on the agenda of the fifth annual Analytics Using SAS® Day, hosted on campus by the University's Advanced Applied Analytics Center.

The Nov. 7 event, which begins at 9 a.m., features speakers from the SAS Institute, and Bryant University faculty and alumni, including John Young, Bryant’s Executive in Residence for Data Science and former chief analytics officer at Epsilon; Erik Miller ’07, '11 MBA, Assistant Business Intelligence Manager, Amica Mutual Insurance Company; Sam Penfield, Advisory Product Manager, SAS Institute; and Melodie Rush, Principal Data Scientist, SAS Institute.

Bryant’s Advanced Applied Analytics Center, co-founded by Professors Richard Glass, Ph.D., and Alan Olinsky, Ph.D., collaborates with SAS® on three certification programs offered to Bryant students: an undergraduate interdisciplinary concentration in analytics, among the first of its kind anywhere; an undergraduate concentration in applied statistics with certification in data mining in the Department of Mathematics; and a graduate certificate in business analytics.

Bryant also has a Bachelor of Science in Data Science, which prepares students to become highly skilled analysts.

Industry studies show that demand for data scientists has far outstripped supply in every industry. “Data science is the hottest field in the entire world,” says Glass. "Our Data Science program is a leading program in the country due to its quality, its rigor and the diversity of courses students can take.”
