The reach of the COVID-19 pandemic is worldwide, touching all aspects of our personal, social, and work lives. It affects the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities, and countries, creating market instabilities and generating economic hardships. The Bryant University community is impacted as well.

Bryant juniors, seniors, and recent graduates are being hit hard with regard to their career plans. Internships and even some post-graduation positions are being cancelled or put on indefinite hold. Furloughs are impacting recent grads. Many companies are adopting a “wait and see” position, while some have come out and clearly stated they are not recruiting or onboarding this summer.

Our first- and second-year students who would have found opportunities to build on their experience this summer are also caught in the wake of COVID-19 cancellations.

Some alumni are in industries that continue to grow and need more talent; others may be seeking short-term assistance on a special project or initiative. Please consider recruiting and onboarding currently enrolled Bryant students as interns, and soon-to-graduate and recently graduated alumni as employees. There are five things Bryant alumni can do to help now:

1. Create teachable moments

This summer will present unique opportunities for creative problem solving, and our students will benefit greatly from short-term skill-building experiences. Please consider how you might engage students with your team on a new or an existing project, or special initiatives.

2. Leverage your network

If your organization has a summer internship, part-time role, or full-time job available, either on location or working remotely, please post it on Bryant’s job board: Bryant Career Connection - BCC. We accept both permanent and consulting or temporary posts.

3. Hire Talent – Hire Bryant

Are you looking for more seasoned (5+ years’ experience) talent? Email the position description and application instructions to us at careers@bryant.edu and we’ll include it in our weekly edition of The Job Source, which goes out to experienced Bryant alumni.

4. Spread the word

Do you know of a talented high school student who would benefit from a Bryant education? Our campus visits and College Fairs are on hold, so you can help us get the word out by encouraging achievement-oriented students in your community to visit admission.bryant.edu to learn more.

5. Be Bryant strong

Participate in the University’s “We Are Bryant” initiative and show your support for our students. You can share a Bryant memory or send a message of encouragement on social media, and help bridge the financial gap for students by making a gift to the Bryant COVID-19 Fund.
