In her latest book, "Are You Ready? A Guide to be the Best Version of You," Jackie (Alpaio) Cantoni '87, MBA reminds readers that they are often their own biggest obstacles to their goals.

“We have negative self-talk that stops us before we even start. But you can handle what life gives you,” she says. “Why not handle success?”

An award-winning mentor, Cantoni has taken on the role of champion throughout career in corporate finance, and as co-founder of two non-profits to help special needs children and inner-city youth. Currently the Director of Enterprise Integration Services, she focuses on building relationships and mitigating risk of mergers and acquisitions for UnitedHealth Group.

Bryant was where she met her first professional mentor, Ernie Almonte, Jr. ’78, ’85 MST, ’09H, who cemented both her love of finance and her love of Bryant.

“I remember calling my mom after his class and relating how full of positive energy he was for the new students,” says Cantoni. “He was a role model to me throughout my years at Bryant and beyond.”

“I believe you can have everything you want, just not all at the same time,” says Cantoni. “This mindset helps relieve some of the guilt if you are spending time in one area of your life for an extended period.” An illness early in her son’s life helped her view life through a different lens and from a perspective of gratitude – something she’s sharing with the world in her book, available on Amazon.
