Members of Bryant's new Council on Jewish Life and Culture, created to support the growth and development of a Hillel program and the long-term vitality of the Jewish experience at the University, "bring a tremendous amount of life experience and work experience to the table,” says Rabbi Steven Jablow, Bryant’s Jewish chaplain and Hillel director. “Whether it’s creative thinking, problem solving, or philanthropic support, these council members are committed to Jewish life at Bryant.”

Council members have professional experience and expertise, as well as connections to local, national and international resources. The council, which includes alumni, Trustees, staff and faculty, "will ensure a cultural home for Jewish students on campus and provide a foundation of academic and spiritual leadership," Jablow noted.

“Whether it’s creative thinking, problem solving, or philanthropic support, these council members are committed to Jewish life at Bryant.”

“I hope this council can enrich Jewish life on campus by dedicating time and effort to creating more opportunities – not only for Hillel, but for people to learn more about our vibrant culture and religion,” said Benarush.  “I hope that the council will show others that creating a community where learning and asking questions is not only welcome, but necessary in order to flourish as a diverse community.”

One goal of the council is to permanently endow the Rabbinic Chair and Hillel Director position.  This would establish a social and cultural anchor for a thriving Jewish life and culture at Bryant, directing an array of religious, educational and social activities that will prepare Jewish students to make a difference.

“We are committed to having a full-time rabbinic presence on this campus,” Jablow said. “We want to provide the resources to support continued growing Jewish enrollment.”
