The event provides information on absentee and traditional voting in every state.

SMITHFIELD, RI – Bryant University will host “Get Ready to Vote” on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Rotunda of the Unistructure Building at Bryant University, 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI. Sponsored by the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership with support from the Bryant Student Senate, this drop-in event will help voters access information on traditional voting, absentee voting, and local ballot issues, in every state in the country.

“We hope that this event will allow the entire Bryant community, and our neighbors across Rhode Island, to gain the lifelong habit of voting in all local, state and national elections,” says Kathleen Bannon '21 of Lincoln, RI.

“This year’s mid-term elections could draw a record turnout of voters from across the political spectrum, but only if they’re registered to vote,” says Cindy Elder, Assistant Director of the Hassenfeld Institute. “This is particularly true of younger voters, many of whom may be voting for the first time and may need absentee ballots.”

The event is the brainchild of Hassenfeld Institute intern Kathleen Bannon, a sophomore at Bryant University, who has been researching absentee voting across the country.

“We hope that this event will allow the entire Bryant community, and our neighbors across Rhode Island, to gain the lifelong habit of voting in all local, state and national elections,” says Bannon.

There is no cost to attend, and all are welcome. For more information on “Get Ready to Vote,” contact Cindy Elder at celder1@bryant.edu or call 401-232-6913.
