Role of Bryant social media expands to serve spring semester's virtual campus

As the Bryant community continues to engage in remote learning, social media accounts representing a variety of campus departments provide a pipeline of information to followers eager for news, updates, and even invitations to virtual social events.

Here is a sampling of Bryant social media accounts and what they're offering during this period of online learning:

Bryant University: (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube): The University’s main accounts keep followers informed about updates to emergency.bryant.edu. In addition, followers learn how the Bryant community is evolving to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic and receive highlights about Bryant faculty experts featured in major media outlets. Instagram content sustains the close-knit Bryant community and gives prospective students and parents insight to campus life. Videos on the Bryant YouTube account support the Office of Admission's virtual events.

Admission (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter): The Office of Admission accounts promote virtual events for admitted students and their families, and engage with sophomores and juniors in high school, putting Bryant on their radar. Follow the Admission accounts for an A-Z journey of Bryant.

Amica Center for Career Education (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter): The Amica Center is promoting workshops, quick questions and coaching appointments. The accounts also promote the Bryant Career Connection as a resource for researching internships, jobs, mock interviews, and more. Coming soon: posts from each team member to comfort, inspire and entertain our students.

Bryant Alumni (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter): The Bryant Alumni Association’s social media accounts provide alumni and students with career and mentoring resources like Alumnifire and professional development webinars. In addition, followers are treated to lighthearted content like the Kati Machtley Blog and campus coloring pages. The Alumni Association accounts also interact with the Bryant community through engaging alumni content such as #WeddingWednesday and #FlashbackFriday.

Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (FacebookInstagram): The CSLI account posts virtual programs by CSLI and student organizations, including Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Arts, and Commuters. In addition, they highlight community organizations that work with our Bryant students, and spotlight the 111 recognized student organizations.

College of Arts and Sciences (Facebook, Twitter): These accounts focus on how students can pursue a 152-hour, 4 + 1 plan leading to the completion of both the Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) and the Master’s degree (MA), as well as enrolling in an online summer course in Group Communication. Additional content focuses on all things communication to support our local communities.

College of Business (Twitter): This social media account features faculty research and teaching, student achievements, and alumni achievements. In particular, it spotlights interesting work being done by faculty, students, and alumni, and offers information about exciting academic events on campus.

Graduate Programs (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter): Followers learn about graduate-level course offerings and culture through the eyes of faculty, staff, and the community.

Human Resources (Facebook, InstagramLinkedIn, Twitter): The Human Resources accounts provide information to keep our faculty and staff informed on upcoming wellness programs, employment opportunities, professional development training and overall news relevant to all those working at Bryant. 

Library (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter): The library social media accounts are focusing on advertising our library resources to students who might not be as familiar with them, utilizing livestreams with librarians to answer research questions or give advice about information literacy, as well as providing students with more lighthearted library-themed content to lift their spirits and give them resources to make their time social distancing more tolerable. 

Residential Life (Instagram): Coming up: Posts about housing selection. The housing selection process for current students who will be living on campus goes until Friday, May 1st. Students and families are encouraged to follow this account for information, guides, live Q & As and more.

Student Events and Orientation Programs (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Orientation Instagram): The SEOP account showcases the signature events, programs, and student organizations coordinated by the Office of Student Events and Orientation Programs, including Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Family and Friends Weekend, Strengths at Bryant, ODK Leadership Honor Society, and Senior Week. The orientation account focuses mostly on Orientation Programs, the Bryant Orientation Leaders, and the new student experience.

U.S. China Institute (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WeChat): The US China Institute Instagram currently is focusing on what campus life is like for some Chinese students who are still on campus. WeChat has primarily been used to keep our Chinese constituents aware of the school’s response to the COVID-19 situation and to relay President Machtley's messages to the community.
