When Henry Bryant and Henry Stratton founded their business school toward the Civil War’s end, veterans were amongst the school’s first attendees. They were looking to invest in an enterprise that would land them a job but, in the mid-1800s, it was difficult for a young person to begin a career in business. Bryant’s programming included short, intensive training that prepared veterans and other students for success.

The university’s commitment to veterans has remained strong ever since. The institution was recently named a top Military Friendly® School for 2023/24, placing third in the private, non-doctorate category. Bryant also ranked No. 14 on the Best Colleges for Veterans (Regional Universities North) list by U.S. News & World Report for 2023. Many of Bryant’s veterans participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, Veteran Readiness and Employment program, and receive VA Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance.

"We are very proud that Bryant University has again earned a military-friendly designation," said President Ross Gittell, Ph.D. "Bryant has a long history of supporting veterans, and we value their significant contributions to the Bryant's community and our nation. We are forever grateful to veterans, and their families, for their service."

The Military Friendly® Schools’ list measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for the military community. Military Friendly® is owned and operated by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

The organization determines school rankings through survey assessments offered to more than 8,800 institutions nationwide. The designations are then based on an institution’s academic policies and compliance, military student support and retention, graduation and career outcomes, admissions and orientation, culture and commitment, and financial aid and loan repayment.

Military Friendly® Schools offers 11 scoring categories:
