SMITHFIELD, RI: Bryant University hosts its inaugural Healthcare Summit on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The overarching theme of the full-day event is “Collaboration Fosters Innovation.”

The current fragmented healthcare system is an impediment to achieving affordable, quality care. This disjointed structure, combined with several key systemic challenges — including access to care, a shortage of talent, complexity of healthcare delivery, cost, and lack of adequate behavioral health and lifestyle management services — places even more strain on the system. In an effort to bridge industry-wide gaps, Bryant University’s Healthcare Summit draws together stakeholders across sectors to connect on these key issues and identify data-driven solutions to build a better healthcare system for all.

“Bryant University is on the frontline of the nationwide healthcare crisis,” explains Kirsten Hokeness, Ph.D., director of Bryant University’s School of Health and Behavioral Sciences. “There are too many barriers to affordable, quality care; it’s going to take a village to overcome these challenges. Collaboration across all sectors of the industry is needed to rethink our current healthcare model and drive it toward a more equitable future.”

The event features keynotes that directly address these issues facing healthcare providers from leaders in the sector: David Ahern, PhD, Founder and Senior Scientist of Abacus Health Solutions, Dr. Rayford Kruger, MD, CEO of Southcoast Health, Dr. Creagh Milford, Senior Vice President of Retail Health, and Dr. Jessica Pelletier, DO, Emergency Medicine Education Fellow, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Collaborative breakout sessions offer deep dives into specific topic areas such as physician assistant integration to alleviate talent shortages; racial and socioeconomic barriers to healthcare; taking a biopsychosocial approach with chronic pain care; the specific challenges facing the mental health profession; using informatics and analytics to improve quality of care delivery; and more. The full-day event ends with a networking reception. Attendees can receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. For more information, visit HealthSummit.Bryant.edu.
