In an exciting development, Bryant University announced that AVI Foodsystems, an industry leader in campus dining solutions, would be the new dining service provider for its dining halls, retail spaces, catering, and concessions, beginning June 10, 2023. AVI brings more than 60 years of food industry experience "to the table" and will revolutionize Bryant's dining experiences.
A strategic step towards elevating the overall community experience, this shift coincides with New Student Orientation that begins on Monday, June 12. "Our recent partnership with AVI brings Bryant University to the next level in terms of food choice and quality," says Inge-Lise Ameer, Ed.D., vice president of student affairs and dean of students. "Dining experience is a leading factor in why students choose a university, and we are thrilled to introduce our incoming students to the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and globally inspired food choices that AVI offers."
AVI Foodsystems was founded by John Payiavlas in 1960 as a single-person operation. Headquartered in Warren, Ohio, today AVI is the country's largest family-owned food and hospitality company. AVI works with customers in 45 states, including several schools in the Northeast, like Wellesley College and Saint Anselm College.
"Dining experience is a leading factor in why students choose a university, and we are thrilled to introduce our incoming students to the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and globally inspired food choices that AVI offers."
"We are honored to partner with and welcome Bryant University to our AVI family," says Anthony Payiavlas, president and CEO of AVI Foodsystems. "Our team is enthusiastic and committed to delivering a dynamic culinary program that will showcase fresh food experiences through culture-focused and authentic cuisines."
Sodexo had been the campus dining service provider for over a decade at Bryant University. The switch to AVI is the result of a lengthy effort that included student satisfaction surveys, an extensive request for referral process, and comprehensive community engagement, including input from students.
"Our partnership with AVI Foodsystems sets a new standard in nutritious dining at Bryant," says President Ross Gittell, Ph.D. “It enables us to meet our commitment to providing our students, faculty, and staff with exceptional food choices that address diverse tastes and dietary preferences. Our new Foodsystems partner further enhances our vibrant campus community."
Students returning to campus this fall will be met with an exciting array of new dining options. As the partnership takes shape, both Bryant University and the AVI Foodsystems team are committed to seeking feedback from the community to refine and improve the dining experience continuously.
