Bryant University’s graduate program in accounting, formerly named the Master of Professional Accountancy, has been renamed to the Master of Science in Accounting. This change, along with revisions to the course catalog that elevate the curriculum’s analytical components, now qualifies the program for STEM designation and comes as a boon for international students. Graduates with F1 visas can apply for 24-month extensions to their Optional Practical Training (OPT) and extend their work experience in the U.S.
“The STEM designation makes it a lot easier for international students to get multi-year visas,” says Daniel Ames, chair of the Accounting Department. “The fact that these graduates would be eligible for more time in the U.S. makes them more attractive for potential employers, which has been difficult for international students.”
