On Saturday, August 5, a group of 66 Bryant Zhuhai sophomores will gather on Bryant’s Smithfield campus for the opening session of their 14-day Sophomore International Experience (SIE).

Students will travel to Providence, Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. to continue their education on American culture, business, government, and education.

Bryant Zhuhai students begin their experience with a welcoming session presented by Bryant leaders, faculty, and student mentors. Programs on campus include faculty lectures on American business, culture, sports, media, and politics, including the 2016 election. They will also learn how to play American football with Bryant coaches and players.

In addition to the on-campus programs, students will travel to Providence, Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C., to continue their education on American culture, business, government, and education.

The academic program at Bryant Zhuhai mirrors the Smithfield campus curriculum, which includes the option to participate in Bryant's signature Sophomore International Experience (SIE). Since 2007 when the SIE program began, more than 2,000 students have participated in the faculty-led immersive three-credit course that combines historical, cultural, and business education with study of language and the arts in countries around the world. Students from the Smithfield campus have traveled to Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.

Bryant Zhuhai, located in Guangdong Province, China, welcomed its historic first class in fall 2015.  For more than a decade Bryant has advanced innovative education initiatives between China and the United States. Bryant is the first and only American university with a presence in Zhuhai, the first university to establish a partnership with a private institution in China, and offers the only U.S.-China joint four-year undergraduate business degree program in China. Bryant Zhuhai was opened in 2015.

Last year’s SIE trip for Bryant Zhuhai’s inaugural class inspired 18 students to transfer and continue their studies at Bryant’s Smithfield campus.
