Bryant University's Actuarial Math program is the recipient of this year’s Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) University Award.
Bryant was selected as one of four winners from a pool of 43 universities worldwide. Drake University, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are also recipients.
The award recognizes universities that share a “commitment to fostering the development of the next generation of property and casualty actuaries,” according to the CAS announcement. The CAS is a leading international organization for credentialing and professional education.
“We are thrilled and honored to have received a 2022 Casualty Actuarial Society University Award. The award confirms our Actuarial Math program as being amongst the elite such programs globally and is a testament to our excellent students and faculty,” said Rick Gorvett, FCAS, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Bryant Mathematics Department. “In particular, our students benefit from our program’s variety of courses, breadth of faculty experience, and the strength of our alumni network and industry relationships.”
Along with a $5,000 monetary award, each winning program will receive formal recognition at the 2022 CAS Annual Meeting in November, where they will also present a session highlighting the innovative and exemplary ways they prepare students for their careers.
