Bryant’s award-winning Amica Center for Career Education will offer a number of Virtual Career & Internship Fairs this fall, Executive Director Kevin Gaw, Ph.D. has announced.

The schedule:

  • September 9 - Accounting
  • September 16 - Finance and Actuarial Science
  • September 23 - Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics and Statistics, and Information Systems
  • September 30 - Government and Nonprofit Agencies and Organizations
  • October 7 - Business, including but not limited to Business Administration, Communication, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Global Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, International Business, Management, Marketing, Psychology, and Sales

The fairs are open to all currently enrolled Bryant students and to Bryant alumni who have registered with the Bryant Career Connection. For help registering, contact Amica Center Recruitment Coordinator Nancy Friel at nfriel@bryant.edu.

Prepare early to be among the best candidates

While enrolled students and registered alumni can attend any and all of the fairs, Gaw noted that the employers participating in the fairs are seeking specific candidates based on the fair themes. He advised student and alumni to discern which of the themed fairs they would be most viable as candidates.

To make the most of the fairs, students and recent graduates, including members of the Class of 2020, for example, should update their profiles in the Bryant Career Connection before the fairs begin. Having an up-to-date profile will allow recent graduates to make the most of these job-seeking opportunities, Gaw said. Job seekers should upload their updated and refined résumés into the Bryant Career Connection so they are prepared when employers ask for the documents. The Amica Center can assist with résumé writing as well as with uploading résumés.

There is no cost to participate in the virtual career and internship fairs. Job seekers will access the events via their computers – from wherever they are.

These fairs are professional recruiting events, Gaw noted, and candidates will be interacting with recruiters via video. Professional attire is strongly advised, he said, as are appropriate backgrounds for video-based employer interactions.

Updated fall academic internship deadlines

In light of the modified fall 2020 semester schedule, with classes starting August 25, deadlines for academic internships have changed.

September 1 is the last day to 1) get the Banner Enrollment form from your academic advisor, and 2) submit the employer contact form to the Amica Center.

September 11 is the last day to complete the academic internship registration in Banner.

Contact an Amica Center Internship Coordinator for more information: Denise Gormley, 401-232-6169, dgormley@bryant.edu or Heather Grim, 401-232-6355, hgrim@bryant.edu

Participating as recruiters

Any alumni or parent wishing to participate in the Virtual Career & Internship Fairs as a recruiter on behalf of their company or organization should contact Amica Center Assistant Director of Employer Outreach and Development Pat Miernicki at pmiernic@bryant.edu. Gaw noted that space is very limited and only companies and organizations invited will be permitted to register.

To meet the needs of the Bryant community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Amica Center has made all services – from career counseling to mock interviews to the Bryant Career Connection – available online to students anywhere in the world.

Delivering services virtually through a variety of platforms from smartphones to Zoom, “we are speaking with students individually and supporting them directly, face to face,” Gaw noted. The virtual Amica Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
